Welcome to the Cambridge Fans United website!
What is CFU?
It's a Supporters Trust, made up of fans of Cambridge United Football Club and
run by a trust board of its members. It is based on the principals set up by
Supporters Direct (
www.supporters-direct.org).
Why was it set up?
CFU began in 2000 as an organisation which wanted the fans to have a voice in
the club and with the objective of making the club an important part of the
local community and also to provide financial support.
What has it achieved?
- Raised money to buy shares in the club - CFU is currently the 3rd largest shareholder
- Helped to save the club from financial liquidation in 2004, when over £100,000 was raised
- Battled to help keep the Abbey Stadium from being sold
- Helped the club to exit administration by the injection of further money
- Helped to pay the club wages on various occasions
- Become entitled to have a Director on the Board, elected by CFU members
- Enormous amounts of practical help with club projects, such as staffing the ticket
office, converting the Fans Bar, refurbishing the Conference facilities, running the
beer festival
- Helped to set up the Learning Skills centre
- Helped promote and finance the club's Youth and Community Schemes
What are its current aims?
- Helping Cambridge United to become the heart of the community
- To provide opportunities for newcomers to experience football at the club and
to become regular fans
- To support the work and development of the club, and to criticise, where necessary
- To see Cambridge United regain a place in the Football League
- to provide a voice for supporters of Cambridge United
- To see Cambridge United regain ownership of its own ground
- To build a Fan Base that can sustain the club in the future
Who can join?
- Anyone over the age of 18 years - minimum annual subscription £20
- Under 16's can join the Junior U's - free of charge
- Students, 16 to 18, and over 60's - £10

- A route to influence decisions via the Fans-elected Director
- Opportunities to question the manager and other club officials at open meetings
- Junior U's get admission to matches for £2, birthday cards, Christmas parties
How do I join?
What can I do/be involved in?
As much or as little as you wish. If you have some time to offer and there is something
you can do to help, then you will always be welcomed. Equally, you don't have to
be active in that respect. Everyone is welcome.
