Being made an honorary director of Cambridge United is a "major honour", according to club stalwart Colin Proctor.
Proctor stood down as fans' director last month after completing his six-year term – the maximum stint under Cambridge Fans United rules – on the club's board.
But he has been handed the title of honorary director by United to acknowledge his efforts, not only as a board member but also his voluntary hands-on work behind the scenes at the Abbey during the week.
Proctor, who saw his first United game in 1943, said he was thrilled to be given the title.
