This evening we welcome the supporters, officials and players of Wigan Athletic to the Abbey Stadium. The two sides first met in 1969 over two-legs. Cambridge United were representing the South and Wigan the North to decide which was the top non-league club outside the Football League at the time. It finished over the two matches 2-2 with each of the teams winning away from home. The clubs were also rivals at the time to become the first one elected into the League. Cambridge United achieved this status in 1970 and Wigan later on in 1978.
Since the start of the season, I have been working with Gina to organise the away travel coach. We have been able to organise a coach for every league match. We are not looking to make a profit from the service but we are looking to run each trip at break-even throughout the season. At the moment we are almost there even with mid-week trips to Plymouth and Morecambe being completed. I would like to thank the East Sussex U’s for their sponsorship to help towards the running of the coach. If you would like to help sponsor the coach, contact us via the details below.
I would also like to thank Tamzin and Tom for their assistance on match days, they really have been brilliant at times going far beyond what is expected of them, as have Greys of Ely the coach suppliers https://greysofely.co.uk/
With ever increasing petrol and travel costs you may find it is the most cost-effective way to follow the side away from home. To book a seat see the following link, currently Cheltenham and Charlton are on line https://www.cambridgefansunited.org/store/c19/Away_Travel.html the Wycombe and Bolton matches will be added shortly. If you have any questions, contact 07591 111251 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you prefer to book in person then go to the Programme exchange outside the club shop before or after a home match.
If you are reading this article, you must have accessed the programme on line or bought a physical copy. Since the start of the season, we have introduced a click & collect and also a click & post service (to be posted as soon as possible after the match) this ensures copies can be ordered in advance of the match and reserved. Sales around the ground have also been re-introduced. On match days a physical programme can be purchased in the club shop, `the Programme Exchange, Cut Throat Lane turnstiles, Habbin and South Stands. To ensure we can cover all these areas we need to have a team of programme sellers. If you would like to help with this, contact me email@example.com
Please look after yourself and enjoy following the team home and away. Be Loud, Be Proud and Be United your support is so important
