Following the Southend match last Saturday the CUFCLottery have provided an update about the unusual way participants helped ensure the match went ahead on time. The ground temperature at night was -10 throughout the previous week.
With a lot of hard work and ingenuity! - two layers of covers, picnic tables and heaters were used.
The picnic benches are the very ones the CUFC Lottery has purchased over the last few years.
The wooden benches were placed on the pitch to hold up two layers of covers. This allowed heaters to be placed underneath them to keep the goal areas from becoming unplayable.
A similar technique was used before the Luton match several years ago.
Other tables are being used currently at the training ground to allow the area to comply with Covid restrictions.
