We started in July 2017 with the following request asking for help with cleaning the seats. We also needed to upgrade Marvin's before the new season began.
Can you help?
There are 4,376 Seats that need dusting/ washing/cleaning at the Cambs Glass Stadium before Saturday 15th July.
So far there are 4 of us able to help. More volunteers would be most acceptable.
Currently we are working 12 - 3pm on Monday and 9.30 - 12.30 on Wednesday.
If you could help then or another time, please contact CFUmp@outlook.com
One year on and we are still there. At times it hasn't been easy and at times not everyone has welcomed our involvement.
The group of helpers has increased in size and skills over the months. We have with the help of Ian and Mick been able to give the Abbey Stadium some colour and a sense of well being. It may be an old ground and may in future years change out of all recognition. However, one year on the ground has got some of its pride back and it is becoming a palace full of Amber. We can not do everything that is needed, but I do hope that what we are trying to do is appreciated.
Some will say that we are mad, others will ask why bother. To understand those questions you need to understand how the building gets into your blood. Everyday you find something new to do or an area that needs a few hours spent to change its appearance. The sense of satisfaction is great and your constantly thinking if we do this then that will look better.
I hope we have made the individuals who years ago from the local community that built the ground and set the club on its journey proud of our efforts. I hope they will see that there are still some people who really cared about what they built and created all those years ago
During the next couple of weeks we will write about some of the projects, highlights and lows of the past year. The people who have helped and the plans for the coming months and how you may be able to help going forwards.
