We will add more over the weekend for the work carried out during Thursday and Friday

We’re looking forward to welcoming Cambridge Utd fans to Forest Green Rovers on 20 January.

As the greenest football club in the world, we hope fans will enjoy the fact we do things a little differently here - from our award-winning vegan food to the organic pitch the teams will be playing on.

All away fans are invited to watch the match from our West Terrace (standing only), which can hold up to 967 people.

The West Terrace is an uncovered standing terrace at the moment – we have plans to create a covered seating area, but it won’t be ready in time for your arrival unfortunately.

That said, we’d advise fans to bring appropriate clothing in case of inclement weather – particularly as The New Lawn is on top of a hill and is exposed to the elements.

On arrival, all away supporters will be welcomed into the stadium via the West Terrace turnstiles, numbers nine and ten.

For away supporters who require Wheelchair accessible seating, there are a very limited number available in our East Stand.

Away supporters can purchase their tickets in advance from Cambridge Utd, from our online shop here or on match day.

We recommend all supporters purchase their tickets in advance, to avoid queues on the day and also save up to £2 per ticket with our advance ticket pricing.

Tickets can be downloaded to your smart phone, printed out at home and/or collected on the day from our Ticket Office (immediately at the front of the stadium as you arrive).

Or you can call the FGR reception on 01453 834 860. We’re open from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

If you need disabled seating, please book in advance by contacting the FGR Reception as early as possible, as these seats will quickly sell out.

Travel
There’s limited parking onsite and in the area, so we do encourage all supporters to travel on the official supporter's coaches.

If you are driving, please try to car share where possible or use public transport. Make sure to allow plenty of time, as the last part of your journey is through a small village, which can become quite congested on a Matchday.

Parking

If you choose to park in the local residential area, please park with consideration for our neighbours and adhere to local parking enforcement.

Parking at the stadium is reserved for pre-booked guests only (hospitality, Blue Badge holders).

If you’re a Blue Badge holder or need a space close to the stadium for accessibility reasons, please contact the FGR reception to book a space in advance. Please note that these spaces are fully booked for every game.

By Train/Bus
If you’re travelling by train, the nearest station is in Stroud. Buses to Forest Green Rovers run approximately every 30 minutes from Stroud/Gloucester (number 63).

Food and drink
Home supporters have access to the Green Man – our onsite pub.

Away supporters will have exclusive use of our away bar: a marquee located at the front of the ground. The bar opens 3 hours before kick-off and will serve a range of lager, cider, wine and soft drinks until kick-off. There’ll also be a selection of bar snacks available from the bar on the day.

Inside the ground, you'll be able to purchase hot food, cold drinks, hot drinks and snacks from the West Terrace catering outlet, once the turnstiles open.

How to find us
The New Lawn is located near Nailsworth on the A46, nine miles from Junction 13 of the M5, or 16 miles from Junction 18 of the M4.

Address:
The New Lawn
Another Way
Nailsworth
Gloucestershire

Sat Nav: GL6 0ET.

There are small cut-through lanes up to the ground: please do not to follow these lanes as they can become heavily congested; just use the main A419/A46 to reach Nailsworth Town and then head up Nympsfield Road to the stadium.

You can find further details on our website here.

Can anyone help?

We found the clock pictured above in the store. It had been presented to the club in the late sixties. On further inspection we found that it no longer worked.

We would like to get it repaired. Are you a clock repairer or able to carry out repairs?

If so, and you think you might be able to help contact me via the form below

Once repaired the clock will be hung in the Abbey Arms on match days .

Thank you

After a cuppa and something to eat the team moved on toPeaks Storehouse at Ditton Walk where the items were unloaded and taken to the new store.

This was not done without mishap when Pat Morgan who was in charge of the move and also the van driver cut his hand on some glass. We wont be having him as our safety advisor next time.

The next trip to the unit will be to install the racking and then commence with the logging of the items.

Thank you to the following for helping complete the move

Alan Kucia
Tom McGrane
Terry O'Dell
Rodney Slack ( once again it was wonderful listening to his stories from his playing days)

Helping to keep up appearances at the Abbey

15/1/2018

Recently the club was congratulated on how clean the Abbey Stadium is on match days.

Two members of the volunteer team  helping to ensure the stadium is ready each match day are Margaret Pearson and Terry O'Dell. They are both supporters who on match days can be found standing in the Habbin.

Margaret normally comes to help with her husband Frank and in addition to cleaning the stands help to ensure the track around the pitch is weed free.  Frank is currently recovering from an operation, so we wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him coming back to help again in the near future.

Terry during the seventies and eighties helped around the ground doing painting and maintenance work. He helped paint the Habbin Stand metal work one summer. He answered the call to help again and is now helping with painting and clearing up after matches.

Terry's and many other United fans, ex-players stories can be watched via the following link by clicking here

Voting for the 2018 inductions to the Cambridge United Hall of Fame begins tomorrow – Saturday, January 13.

To register your vote, head to cuhalloffame.org.uk and follow the voting link.

Or, if you prefer to register your preferences the old-fashioned way, you will be able to vote by paper ballot at a table beside the CFU caravan, in the Abbey's front car park, before tomorrow's game against Mansfield.

This year, U's supporters can choose player inductees in three categories: pre-1970, 1970-1989 and 1990-2005.

In the pre-1970 player category, vote for one of these: Harvey Cornwell, Terry Eades, Joe & Tony Gallego, Johnny Haasz, Wilf Mannion or Len Saward.

GAVIN BELL

Former foreign correspondent of The Times and award-winning travel writer

I’’ll be missing a few games of my team Motherwell this season as I’ll be travelling the country to places like Cambridge, Accrington, Grimsby and Plymouth.

My ‘season ticket’ to unfamiliar grounds is to gather material for a book on teams plying their trade in the lower English and Scottish divisions. In an era when glamour clubs are paying obscene wages to players, agents and their hangers-on, I’m looking at how smaller clubs survive, and how important it is that they do.

At the Premiership level there is a danger of fans being priced out of football and relegated to watching their teams on so-called ‘live’ matches on Sky. Meanwhile tens of thousands of diehard supporters remain loyal to smaller clubs that are important to the communities that sustain them.

Come rain or shine, win or lose, they’re on the terracings every week because of genuine passion for the game and because that’s what they do on Saturdays. My book, which I hope to have published next season, is a whimsical tour around the grassroots of the game whose survival is more important than ever.

Back at the Abbey today and trying to fool nature. Reseeding the goalmouths have taken place. See photo below

The covers have been put back on the pitch this morning. They are  not trying to protect the pitch from frost or the constant rain this time. Ian and Mick have covered the areas in an attempt to get the seed to take and force the grass to grow. It will take two weeks from now for the seed to be fully established.

By Saturday and the match against Mansfield the grass will showing the first signs of growth.

Mick has been repairing the bench seats in Main Stand this afternoon. He completed 9  and will be carrying out further changes over the next few days. The brackets holding the seats corrode and require new ones specially made. The club recently took delivery of a new batch and are repairing the broken ones - See photos below

Things are getting back to normal now after the New Year. See photos of some of the work being done at the Abbey today.

Ian and Mick filled the holes going down Cut Throat Lane this morning before starting to aerate the pitch.

The pot holes have been filled several times since the season begun however further damage has been done by the recent heavy rain, snow and continuous traffic use. Hopefully this re-surface will last longer than the previous ones

Below non match day volunteer Mick Radford makes a start on glossing the woodwork in the entrance area by the Dublin Bar.

We are aiming to complete the painting by tomorrow evening of the entrance.

Most of the ceiling and walls were done before Christmas.

Before Christmas we completed painting the walls and ceilings white all the the way though the passageway and painting the a black area at the bottom of the walls throughout.

Josh Coulson - Thank you

Today brought the news that Josh Coulson had joined Orient following his loan period before Christmas.

We will never forget the goal he scored against Plymouth in our first match back in the league (see the video below) and also the joy of those Wembley wins.

When asked if CFU would sponsor the testimonial match for Josh Coulson against Tottenham last July they were only too happy to do so. The trust had followed his career from  joining the club, through playing for CRC, making his first team debut, playing at Wembley and then once back in the EFL.

CFU hope their sponsorship and support of CRC helped Josh achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer.

He will always be an Abbey Legend.  We hope Josh will come back as often as he can to the Abbey  and take his place on the terraces with other supporters.

Josh - Thank you and all the best for the future
