There are many reasons for volunteering in football, such as gaining new skills or socialising, but on many occasions fans do it just because they want to feel part of the team and want to give something back to organisations that have played a big role in their lives. The attachment some people have to the football clubs they support and to their communities often makes them want to make an impact to these environments without earning any sum of money in return. This attachment is really evident regarding fan-owned clubs, which at the same time give more opportunities to volunteer. Those are business benefits of supporter ownership in comparison with privately owned clubs.
