Trust Board Profiles » Nigel Browne

Nigel Browne I watched my first match at the Abbey in 1966, v.Weymouth in the Southern League. Over forty years later and I still can't kick the habit! I've witnessed lots of highs and lows over those years. I remember well the euphoria which griped the whole city when United got into the Football League. Also glory times of Ron Atkinson and John Beck (first time!). It really has been a roller coaster over the years and to compare some of the places I've seen the U's play makes it all seem a bit surreal! Wembley, Millennium Stadium and Highbury to Canvey Island, Lewes and Eastbourne my enjoyment and enthusiasm is still the same.

I really do feel that we should do all we can to get back in the Football League and not resign ourselves to being an established non-league club. I also feel very strongly that the club needs to be run as a club involving everyone and as a business which would at least break even financially. I'm sure that a strong Fans Trust can and will be influential in achieving these aims. The more members we have the stronger and more significant we will become.

I am 54 years old (nearly an old git!). Married with two sons, who are the third generation of Browne's to support the U's. I live in Cottenham and work as a sales rep for a building materials company. On match days I am a turnstile operator, normally on the NRE end.
