The 8th CFU/KKSC Xmas 5-a-side tournament on 30th December was won by Something Out Of The Ordinary, who beat Kelsey Kerridge 3-1 in the final. 3rd place was taken by SK Team who defeated Pink Members 2-1.
Organiser of the winning team, Jack Watson said "We had some tough games, we got through it with a team of the young and very very old. But overall we showed our dominance, winning all our games with a very impressive goal record with 30 goals and also only conceding 4 goals. We all hope to defend it again next year. Thank you to Terry and CFU/Kelsey Kerridge for holding the tournament."
16 teams entered the tournament, mostly from the Cambridge area. Leyton Orientears (Leyton Orient fans team) had a difficult journey from East London as they got caught in the delays caused by pigs on the M11. SK Team players are all from Slovakia, they could say what they liked to the referees in their language. Pink Members were the only team wearing pink shirts with matching headbands, there is no truth to the rumour that they were white until they got washed with some red undies!
The unofficial "worst team" was as usual between Skooters and Abbey United (Cambridge United fans team). This year the it was Skooters, they managed a draw, whereas Abbey United somehow won a game!
CFU organiser Terry Wilby said "Another great tournament, there were some really good games, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I'd like to thank Nigel Browne for all his help on the day behind the scenes, and referees Richard Nichols, Ian Pascu, Paul Gregory and Graham Pettit for keeping order on the pitch."
