I first saw United in 1967 when a friend of mine at school
said come to the local derby at the Abbey. He was Cambridge
City fan. United won and I was smitten.
I have many great memories starting with the Southern League double winning
side and our election to the League. Remember Bill Cassidy and Tony Butcher?
There was a pair of strikers who knew how to play together. My Dad -a
life long Lincoln supporter- stood
by my side watching our first ever League game end in an honorable 1-1 draw.
The promotions and relegations in between that early time and our great 90's
side, plus most recently the days out at Wolves, the Millennium and Wembley
(although results could have been a little kinder) stand out.
It’s been a rollercoaster with the U's -fantastic highs and drastic lows- but
never boring! I feel privileged to have been a part of the ride.
I've been helping CFU and the Club behinds the scenes for a number of years
with various projects but when the opportunity came to move closer to Cambridge
I was proud to be elected to the CFU Trust Board
at the January AGM and to become part a team of what I consider to be incredibly dedicated and talented people.
My background is in business improvement and project management where I have
worked with a number of companies in the finance, leisure, retail and IT
industries and I hope that I can use this experience to good effect for both
CFU and the Club. Outside of football my other passion is music and I always try to get to
see and hear live music whenever I can. I have also been known to knock
out a tune or two on the guitar.
I'm a season ticket holder in the Habbin and if you see me about then there’s
always an open offer to have a chat about the U's, football or anything
else that takes your fancy.
I can also tell you all about CFU and what its like be involved.
With fantastic fans like ours I'm always optimistic about the future for the
club and our collective ability to overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
