CFU In The Community
Cambridge Fans United believes that football clubs are community assets and their influence stretches far beyond the normal match day.
Football clubs are about helping the community, building links with local organisations and being a good neighbour. A football club is a living organ breathing 24 hours, seven days, 365 days a year.
It has the power to influence and improve lives.
Cambridge United is like a village, it has a sports complex, educational facilities, businesses and members club within its boundaries.
CFU are proud to have launched and sponsored the Smile scheme which continues today.
We have in the past run initiatives some as diverse as the successful Oi Ref, where’s your Glasses campaign anddelivering leaflets into the Community making people aware of Testicular Cancer.
CFU also ran one of the most successful football tournaments held in the region, which saw thousands of children take part each year. We organised and sponsored the original matches in the South Stand Initiative which again saw thousands of youngsters and adults alike being introduced to the club and match day experience for the first time.
We have also helped promote Fair Trade, and the local Cambridge 105 community radio station. We also helped organise the distribution of shirts in Africa and provided specialist equipment and resources to deliver commentary for the visually impaired at home matches.
In 2010 we financed the Kick It (racism) Out Campaign at Cambridge United.
It is only a beginning and we only touch the surface, but CFU has made, and will continue to make, a difference in our community.
